This book, ‘Chatillon’, is a must for anyone who loves old-timers and visited this legendary scrapyard in the past. Hundreds, mainly American, cars were rotting away in a completely unexpected area. Visitors are bound to remember the owner, Fernand Contant. Today everything is gone but numerous pictures reveal that it was not always the jungle of car wrecks suggested by images on the internet today. The book also discusses the history and the current museum. The bulk of the book is comprised of pictures taken by a number of different photographers between 1974 and 2010. The book is bilingual, Dutch and English. For a while we wondered whether we should not produce it in Dutch and French to accommodate the visitors from France and Walloon. However, that would mean disappointing the German visitors. Hence our decision to opt for English, today’s lingua franca.
